Baby Kaboosh was inspired by the arrival of Daleen and Ewan’s first child, Cerys. Cerys was a very restless sleeper and always moved so much that her blankets were either covering her head or she was often cold because she kicked herself open all the time.  Luckily Ewan’s parents came to visit from the U.K. to meet their beautiful new granddaughter.  They brought many gifts and one very special gift was a baby sleeping bag.

As soon as Cerys started sleeping in her baby sleeping bag, everything changed as she could not wriggle out of it and the end result was many peaceful nights of sleep for Daleen & Ewan.  Cerys was comfortable and at the right temperature and most importantly she was safe, as she could not cover her head anymore. This resulted in Cerys sleeping 12 hours a night without waking from four months onwards.

When time came for Daleen to buy a bigger sleeping bag for Cerys, she found that sleeping bags in South Africa were very expensive and not always available. Daleen was happy with the quality of baby sleeping bags from the United Kingdom and asked her In-laws to post another one for Cerys.

Recognizing a gap in our South African market, Daleen wrote to www.slumbersac.co.uk and asked them to sell their products in South Africa.  Slumbersac at that point was already looking for an importer & distributor in South Africa and Daleen requested to be their agent.

Realizing the magnitude of the venture, Daleen asked her sister Lorraine, who at the time was a Casino Manager on the cruise ships, to be her partner in Calm Waters Trading C.C. trading as Baby Kaboosh.

Early in December 2010 Geoff Wood from the United Kingdom and Henry Young from Hong Kong met Daleen Rees and Lorraine Jacobs at the China Trade Sourcing Fair at Gallagher Estate, Midrand, South Africa.  A heads of agreement was reached whereby Calm Waters Trading C.C. would import and distribute Slumbersac baby sleeping bags to South Africa under the name Baby Kaboosh.

Daleen and Lorraine would like to dedicate the success of Baby Kaboosh to their ‘angels’ for their support and guidance in getting this project to where it is today.

We include a picture of Cerys with her Mom, Daleen and her Auntie, Lorraine. She was the inspiration to this wonderful business and adventure that Daleen and Lorraine embarked on.
